FW Sales: how to choose truly “clever” pieces

1) Start with the simplest rule: “Will I wear it 30 times?”

When you’re at a sale, your mind goes wow and the basket fills up. Stop for 10 seconds and ask yourself: Will I wear it at least 30 times?

If the answer is “maybe,” it’s usually a “no.”

2) Invest in garments that solve outfits (not in garments that complicate them)

Smart pieces are those that work in many settings and “lift” everything else.

Practical examples:

  • Coat neat (straight cut / double-breasted)

  • Knitwear well made (crew neck or turtleneck)

  • Jeans or dark “going out” trousers

  • Shoe neutral, easy, wearable

3) The trick with colours: neutrals + 1 accent

If you want a garment to last over time, choose black / grey / cream / blue / camel and then allow yourself just one “accent” colour (burgundy, forest green, electric blue).

That way you won’t tire of it and it’s easy to match.

4) Watch the materials (this makes the real difference)

You don’t need to become an expert, just one thing: touch and look.

When the fabric:

  • doesn’t “shine” too much

  • falls well

  • doesn’t seem plastic-like

    …usually that’s already a good sign.

5) Fit > fashion

Fashion passes, fit remains. If a garment fits you right away, without having to “imagine it,” then it’s a yes.

Before buying, ask yourself:

  • Can I match it with at least 3 garments I already have?

  • Would I wear it even without “special occasions”?

  • Do I really like it or do I just like the discount?

If you want, save this article and use it as a quick checklist every time you browse sales: it saves you from “gut” purchases and leaves you only the right ones.
